So I went to my uncle's this past Tuesday to watch a movie on his projector screen, and he gave me a new laptop! I've been using a slow, ten-year-old Dell that, although very sturdy (I call it "The Tank" cuz it's built like one), it's getting really old and slow and I've been worried about it dying. So my uncle gave me one of his! It's about a year old and he used it for his home theater system. All it's really done in it's short life is play movies, so the keyboard and touchpad have basically never been used. Plus, my dad bought a brand new harddrive for it. It's awesome. The hard part is adjusting to the new operating systerm, going from Windows XP to Windows 7. But it's so much faster!!!! I can actually navigate DeviantArt without it freezing every other page!
The other annoying part is moving all my files. I have to copy them from my old laptop onto a external harddrive and then copy them from the harddrive to my new laptop. It wouldn't be a problem, except the USB ports on my old laptop have an EXTREMELY slow connection. But I'm almost done. I'm working on moving the last batch of files as I type this!

Apparently, my dad and my uncle had been plotting this for about two weeks beforehand, so my dad got my reaction on camera. I was in a state of shock for a long while after he gave me the laptop. I can actually cross it off my "impossible wish list" now! I wasn't expecting to get a new laptop for a long time, even though I kind of needed a new one. The threat of my old one suddenly dying one day was getting to be pretty great and I didn't want to lose all my files. My dad and I are going to keep the old Dell around still, as a backup for my files and also to use the programs we have that will not run in Windows 7.
Ugh, this keyboard is hard to get used to! It's quite a bit different from my old one, and I keep missing letters and having to go back and retype things. I expect I'll get used to it pretty quick though, as I type a lot.
Anyways, this has been a GREAT week! I got 100% on my Calculus test on Tuesday, which is quite an accomplishment, and my best friend

won her soccer game yesterday, and she and I performed a duet at my youth group's talent show on Wednesday. Today was a half day at school and also Community Day, so I got to spend it sorting music in the band room. Yay!
Also, tomorrow is the first parade of the Spring Marching Band season!!!! Excited!
This coming Wednesday is the band trip to Valley Fair. Fun stuff!
